Accommodation

The University of Toronto Housing Service staff is available to assist students in arranging the type of accommodation and services they require while at the University. Students have their choice of University Residence, Student Family Housing, and Off-Campus Housing:

  • University Residence. For the 2008-2009 school term, the cost of single-student University residence with a full meal plan is approximately $7,920 to $13,475 for an eight-month, academic session (September - May). Modified meal plans are available in some residences. The cost of a residence providing cooking facilities but no meal plan will be approximately $4,280 to $6,256. After paying an initial deposit, the balance of fees is usually paid at the beginning of each of the four-month fall and winter terms. Summer residences are also available to students (May - August). The costs and services provided vary from residence to residence. A list of University of Toronto residences and Independent residences located near the St. George Campus may be obtained from the Housing Service. You must apply to each residence directly.
  • University Family Housing. The St. George Campus has two high-rise buildings that provide unfurnished apartments to full-time U of T students with families. As of September 1, 2009, rent for the bachelor, one- and two-bedroom units ranges from approximately $610 to $1,000 depending on the location and size of the unit, and is payable monthly.

  • Off-campus Housing. Throughout the year, the Student Housing Service maintains a registry of available rental accommodation in Toronto. Private apartments will range from $525 - $1,150, $600 - $1,200, $900 – $2,000, and $1,300 - $3,000 for a bachelor, one- two- or three-bedroom unit respectively.
