Graduate Admission Guidelines for the Faculty of DentistryThe M.Sc. /Ph.D. Degree-- Offers research training The "doctoral stream" program is designed as a traditional thesis-based graduate research experience leading to either a M.Sc. or Ph.D., or both degrees consecutively. A student accepted to the program selects an individual research project that is supervised by a faculty member of the School of Graduate Studies, with the help of an advisory committee. There are required courses and, additionally, a qualifying examination for the Ph.D may be required. The program culminates in the oral defense of a written research thesis based on the original investigation achieved during the program. The anticipated standard completion time for students entering with a B.Sc. or D.D.S., or equivalent, is normally 2 years for an M.Sc. and 4 years for a Ph.D.
