1. IMPORTANT DATES
August 1, 2009 Application deadline. Application forms and ALL supporting documents (including the application service fee and proof of English facility, if applicable) must be received in the Admissions Office of the Faculty of Dentistry on or before this date. PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS MUST TAKE THE ACFD ELIGIBILITY EXAM BY MAY 2009 TO MEET THE DEADLINE OF August 1, 2009.
Mid
October, 2009
Applicants will be notified if they will be invited for an interview.
Late October, 2009 Replies due from applicants invited for an interview.
November 7, 2009 Interview.
Late November, 2009 Decision notification date. Applicants will be sent emails indicating whether or not they have been accepted into the International Dentist Advanced Placement Program.
Early December, 2009 Replies due from applicants accepted into the International Dentist Advanced Placement Program.
February 25– 26, 2010 Registration and Orientation.
March 1, 2010 *International Dentist Advanced Placement Program begins.

2. PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION

Applications must be downloaded from the Faculty web site. (Please see Application Form, below.) Applicants who are submitting documents in a name other than that shown on the application must submit proof of name change with the application. A notarized copy of one of the following is acceptable: marriage certificate or Change-of-Name Order issued by an Ontario Court Judge, or by another court of competent jurisdiction.

DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO APPLICANTS. Therefore, do not send originals.

August 1 , 2009: APPLICATION DEADLINE. Application forms and all supporting documents must be received in the Admissions Office by August 1, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., which is the application deadline. The following documents must accompany your completed application form:  

  • non-refundable application service fee of $230 CAD (certified cheque or money order payable to the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto). We do not accept personal cheques or credit card payments.
  • proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident status (photocopy only).
  • notarized copy of your dental school marks accompanied by a notarized English translation, if applicable.
  • notarized copy of your dental school diploma accompanied by a notarized English translation, if applicable.
  • proof of name change, if applicable.

In addition, applicants must arrange for the following documents to be submitted directly to the Admissions office from the issuing institutions(s):

  • ACFD Eligibility Examination results. PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS MUST TAKE THE ACFD ELIGIBILITY EXAM PRIOR TO THE AUGUST 1ST DEADLINE EACH YEAR.
  • proof of English facility, if applicable. (See section on English Facility Requirements.)

If there is information that you wish to bring to the attention of the Faculty of Dentistry to assist in the assessment of your qualifications, please present your information (not to exceed 750 words) on standard-size paper and include it with your application. Only submit this letter if you have extenuating circumstances you want to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee.

Do not send resumes, C.Vs, essays, certificates, or reference letters with your application. They will not be considered by the Admissions Committee.

Applications must be typed or printed clearly in ink. If your application is not completed legibly, has missing information or does not include the application service fee, it will be returned to you for completion. The normal application deadline will still apply. Please sign and date your application.

The discovery that any information or documentation submitted in support of an application is false or misleading or that any material information has been concealed or withheld will invalidate the application and will result in its immediate rejection, or in the immediate revocation and cancellation of admission and/or registration if the applicant has been admitted.
