What we do
University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry alumni make up a national and international community of nearly 10,000 dentists who are among the profession's leaders as practitioners, educators, and researchers.
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations helps to connect graduates to the institution and each other through a variety of professional, educational and social programs. We support student activities, and strive to improve the quality of student life. Today's students are tomorrow's alumni and together with the Dental Alumni Association, we are proud to support our future colleagues.
Alumni Today
We regularly communicate with our alumni through this magazine, which includes news of faculty accomplishments, student activities and the many pursuits of our alumni, as well as information on what’s new at the Faculty. We do appreciate the wonderful feedback we receive from our readers. We would welcome any written contributions and photographs from our alumni. Let us know of awards and celebrations so that we may share these with your colleagues.
Awards of Distinction
Each year, individuals who, by their contributions to society, have brought honour and distinction to themselves and by so doing have added distinction to our profession are honoured at a gala event.
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the Faculty of Dentistry provides funding for almost all student activities. It is hoped that students will appreciate the efforts of those who went before them, and they too will support future undergrads who come after them.
This year the proceeds of Annual Golf Tournament will provide financial assistance for:
- Orientation Week -- A welcome to the freshman class
- Dentantics, the annual student theatre night
- Uniforms for sport activities
- The "Students of Distinction" event
- Scholarships and awards for needy students
Annual fund-raising initiatives and generous support by individual donors in the recent past have supported:
- Upgraded clinical facilities supported by a major donation from SciCan.
- Endowment to secure the future of the Faculty of Dentistry. A Research Endowment Fund was inaugurated at the recent Awards of Distinction Gala.
- Chairs in perpetuity: Dr. Lloyd and Mrs. Kay Chapman Chair in Clinical Sciences; Arthur Zwingenberger Decanal Chair; Nobel Biocare Chair in Prosthodontics.
- The Nusbaum Family Lecture Room.
- The Altima Dental Student Services Centre.
The Faculty of Dentistry greatly appreciates the generosity of its Alumni and friends.
Alumni Association
The Alumni Association is pleased to represent the graduates of Canada's premier dental school. Through our activities we support the next generation of students while we encourage camaraderie and pride amongst our members.
Ways of giving to the Faculty of Dentistry
The Faculty of Dentistry welcomes financial support to maintain and strengthen our programs and facilities. Alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations are important partners in our mission to provide the finest in oral health-care education and research.
