Assistant Dean Continuing Dental Education and Professional Relations

Our mandate at the Faculty includes creating a positive and enthusiastic support among the alumni for the goals of the Faculty of Dentistry and supporting those goals as the Faculty strives for continued excellence in undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and continuing dental education and in scholarly activities related to research and clinical care.

This mission to achieve nothing less than excellence in all its endeavours requires the development of additional sources of funds.

Thus we will be concentrating on improving and creating vehicles for developing superior relationships with donors, alumni, industry and faculty as well as the community at large.

This will include the practice of developing excellent and innovative continuing education programs for the dental profession, communicating the activities and success of the faculty, its students and its alumni, supporting student excellence and positive experiences, and providing arenas for camaraderie and fundraising.

The "White Coat Ceremony", a ceremony designed to impress upon new students the significance and symbolism of the white coat is sponsored by the Alumni Association. During the ceremony, students vow to maintain professional attitudes and behaviours in work and relationships with classmates, teachers, patients and the community Each student is given a traditional white coat. The white coat recognizes the student’s entry into the dental profession and welcomes them as junior colleagues, it marks the beginning of a commitment to long-term learning and their responsibility to their chosen profession. Following the distribution of white coats, students join together to recite an oath of commitment.
