Apollonia of Alexandria

Apollonia of Alexandria     The caption of this stained glass in the Dental Library reads:
Apollonia of Alexandria
249 AD
"Patroness of all who suffer from toothache"

Installed by women in dentistry and their friends in memory of 100 years of women students at the University of Toronto

It was designed by Thomas And Steve Smilie, Alan Stein, and Flora Goudsmit of the Glass Studio in Toronto and was unveiled on November 30, 1985. The face of Apollonia is a portrait of Josephine Wells, Canada's first woman dentist.
