In the Reference section of the Dental Library

The reference section contains books such as:
  • dental dictionaries in various languages, e.g. Mosby's Dental Dictionary
  • health sciences dictionaries, e.g. Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary and A Dictionary of Epidemiology
  • language dictionaries, e.g. the Canadian Oxford Dictionary
  • drug guides, e.g. Mosby's Dental Drug Reference
  • writing resources, e.g. A Canadian Writer's Guide and Roget's Thesaurus
The books in the reference section can only be used within the library; however, for some of these books we have earlier editions in Stacks which can be borrowed.

At the public service desk

Certain reference books in high demand are kept at the public service desk -- for instance
  • Canadian dental directory
  • Dispatch: your source guide to dentists and specialists in Ontario
  • Drug information handbook for dentistry

Online

U of T Libraries has a number of licensed electronic reference books (dictionaries, etc.) related to health sciences and life sciences which, while not specifically dentistry-related, are useful for dentistry. For links to these e-dictionaries, etc., please see Dentistry.

To locate other electronic reference books (e.g., language dictionaries), please see Search for Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Directories, Handbooks...

Please feel free to ask library staff for assistance in locating a reference work.
