Position Summary: |
Under the direction of the Facilities and Services Director, this position is responsible for assuring quality service to assigned outside areas and undertaking duties in a professional and courteous manner. |
Education: |
College Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold valid drivers license |
Experience: |
Minimum of two years of landscaping experience. Work experience in a garden centre or nursery would be an asset. Candidate must have knowledge regarding a wide range of outdoor plants, bushes, and trees. |
Skills: |
A satisfactory command of the English language is necessary in order to deal with staff, visitors, students, faculty and co-workers. Must be familiar with and able to use basic landscaping equipment, including lawnmowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, tractor and pick up truck use without restrictions. |
Physical Demands: |
Physically capable of heavy lifting, repetitive upper body motion, standing for long periods of time, working outdoors in a variety of weather, and operating grounds equipment without restriction. |
Other: |
Hours of work, usually Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or as conditions dictate. |
