Continuing Education 22 Years of Learning and GrowingContinuing Education

Welcome from the Director

Mimi MarroccoFranz Kafka tells us that a good book should be as an axe for the frozen sea within us. So too, a good course and a good conversation, opens our minds and hearts and literally "warms us up". In a spirit of warm hospitality, we invite you to join the growing community of lifelong learners who have made the St. Michael's campus their home away from home.

Donor Generosity

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Continuing Education is still able to offer a number of free public lectures and to maintain tuition fees at a very reasonable level. In fact, the cost of this year's Saturday workshops has been lowered to $60.00 to enable the broadest possible participation in what we think you'll agree are some very attractive offerings. Blue Card holders will be pleased to learn that the $10.00 lunch/reservation charge for Saturday workshops has been replaced by a modest increase in the annual membership fee.

New and noteworthy

New and noteworthy this year: we are delighted to collaborate with St. Jerome's University on a travel initiative to Santiago de Compostela and to welcome a number of new instructors. Throughout the calendar, six fi rst timers will be identified with an * next to their name. We think you'll be as enthusiastic about their courses as you have been about your perennial favorites. Among these were the courses taught for the past five years by Continuing Education's most prolific presenter, Dr. Bruce Meyer. Dr. Meyer is leaving Toronto to take up a permanent faculty position in the English Department at Georgian College. While he will certainly be missed, we congratulate him on attaining this goal and extend best wishes to him and his family.

Laurel-Ann and I look forward to serving you in the months ahead.

Sincerely,

M. J. (Mimi) Marrocco, Ph.D.
