The 2007 Furlong Lecture and Symposium will take place on October 28-29, on the theme of Abraham in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The Furlong Lecture, “Abraham and the Culture of Dialogue,”will take place on Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 8pm in the Sorbara Auditorium, Brennan Hall. The speaker will be Professor Jane McAuliffe, Dean and Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Georgetown University, Washington. Dr McAuliffe is a scholar of Islam and a senior fellow at the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. The Lecture is free and open to the public; there are no tickets and registration is not required.
The Furlong Symposium will follow on Monday, October 29, 2007, in the Madden Auditorium, Carr Hall, and will include presentations by Professor Peter Ochs, Edgar M. Bronfman Professor of Modern Judaic Studies, University of Virginia and Professor Abdulaziz Sachedina, Professor of Islamic and Shi'ite Studies, University of Virginia.
