Located on the historic east side of the UofT campus and spanning more than 12 acres, St. Michael’s is the largest College at UofT and provides an oasis within the bustle of downtown Toronto . Founded in 1852, St. Mike’s is rich in spirit and tradition and boasts some of the most spectacular architecture on the UofT campus.
St. Michael's College is located south of the intersection of Bay and Bloor and north of Bay and Wellesley in the heart of downtown Toronto; St. Mike's is central to all subway lines as well as historic Yonge Street, Yorkville and several shopping centres.
Founded in 1852, St. Mike's is the oldest residence community at UofT. It has been the home of many business, political, academic and cultural leaders and our staff and students are committed to continuing this tradition with each new resident. Past students of St. Mike's include former Prime Minister Paul Martin, author Morley Callaghan and Tony Comper (President and CEO of the Bank of Montreal). For more information on the history of St. Michael's College, please see our History Section.
The SMC residence offers both single-sex and co-ed dormitories in a variety of architectural styles: grand Victorian character homes, traditional " Oxford style” buildings, as well as larger more modern structures.
