Labour Day. All Freshmen Residents are encouraged
to arrive on Labour Day.
A check-in desk will be set up in the main foyer of Elmsley Hall at 81 St. Mary Street. The desk will be open from 8:30am until Midnight on Labour Day and from 9 until 5 for the remainder of the week. If you arrive outside of regular check-in hours don’t worry, there will be
a phone number posted on the entrance door for one
of our dons; just page him/her using the courtesy phone
in the lobby.
The check in desk will be located at ‘81 St. Mary Street’. St. Mary is located two blocks south of the Bay & Bloor intersection OR two blocks north of the Bay & Wellesley intersection, and runs west off Bay Street. If you’re unfamiliar with downtown Toronto, we suggest typing our address into www.mapquest.com and downloading the corresponding maps. It may also be helpful to consult the SMC Campus Map
Those arriving by plane at Pearson International Airport should either take a taxi to 81 St. Mary Street (approx. $40), or the ‘Shuttle Express Bus’ to the Delta Chelsea Hotel (approx. $15) and then a taxi to the College (approx. $5). Those arriving by train or subway should take the "University-Spadina" line north from Union Station and exit at Museum Station. 81 St. Mary Street (Elmsley Hall) is located approximately one minute east of the station. Those arriving by subway on the Bloor Line should exit at "Bay" station and walk one and half blocks south to "St. Mary Street."
Upon arrival you will receive your room keys and be directed to your new room. Since dollies and wagons are in high demand on move in day, we recommend that you bring your own if possible.
Around 6pm your Don will be hosting a pizza dinner to officially welcome you to St. Mike's and provide you with an opportunity to meet your new housemates. Following dinner there will be a residence mixer in "the quad" with a DJ and some other activities planned to welcome you to residence and help you meet the other new members of the residence community.
We regret that we are unable to accommodate early arrivals due to the extensive cleaning, painting and room preparation that occurs during the last weeks of summer. Please make your travel arrangements with this in mind. If you require accommodation before Labour Day you are advised to make arrangements with a hotel in the greater Toronto area.
