GOALS
This program is designed to foster graduate level competence in both Christian and Jewish theology.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
DURATION OF STUDIES AND PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
This is a three-year program consisting of 18 courses focusing on the Christian and Jewish traditions. The first year is in Toronto and the other two years are in Jerusalem. Program requirements are the same as for the MA, with the following exceptions.
Year I in Toronto: Students are exempted from 1 b).
Year 2 in Jerusalem is divided into two parts: From July to December students participate in an immersion course in modern Hebrew. From February to June students take five courses and an introduction to the land of Israel through our partner institution, Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Year 3 in Jerusalem (from October to June) consists of three full-year or six half-year graduate courses in rabbinics at Hebrew University with concurrent reflection seminars at the Bat Kol Institute. During this year the student writes a thesis under the supervision of graduate-level TST faculty or faculty in our partner institutions who have been approved by the TST Theology department.
As the program proceeds, the student will acquire language competency in Modern Hebrew, one other modern language and one ancient language. Details about language and other program requirements are found on the check-list of courses available from the Advanced Degree director.
