Applications for Student Financial Aid for the 2008-2009 academic year must be submitted on or before Friday, February 8, 2008. Applications received after that date will be processed only if there are still funds available.

Bursaries
Thanks to the generosity of donors, including faculty members and alumni, and in co-operation with various government agencies, the Faculty of Theology provides bursaries to cover partial or full tuition for a number of academically qualified students who have financial need.
New and returning students should apply for financial aid for the subequent academic year no later than the first Friday of February each year.
Ontario Students Awards Program (OSAP)
Students who take at least three courses per semester are eligible for loans and grants through OSAP if they satisfy the citizenship or residence requirements. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada who have at least one year's prior residence in Ontario. Those holding student visas are not eligible. Applications for OSAP are made on-line at: http:// osap.gov.on.ca.
Bursaries For Basic Degree Students
Funded By St. Michael's Foundation And The Ontario Student Opportunities Trust Fund (OSOTF)
Bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to full-time students registered in the Basic Degree Programs. These bursaries are applied toward the student’s tuition costs.

BURSARIES FOR STUDENTS IN ADVANCED DEGREE PROGRAMS
Financial aid for new and returning Advanced Degree students is distributed on the basis of financial need and academic achievement. The maximum grant awarded is normally the total amount of tuition.
Applications are to be submitted each year to the Student Services Officer no later than the first Friday of February.
BURSARIES FUNDED BY THE ONTARIO STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES TRUST FUND (OSOTF)
The Faculty Entrance Award (OSOTF) honours the teaching faculty, past and present, of the Faculty of Theology of the University of St. Michael's College and is awarded to promising students pursuing the ThD or PhD in Theology. Students will normally specialize in one of the areas of distinction of the University of St. Michael's College Faculty of Theology: Eastern Christian Studies, Ecology and Theology, Ecumenism, Feminist Theology, Historical Theology, Jewish Studies, New Testament Studies, Social Justice and Ethics.
The Michael Sheehan Award (OSOTF) honours the memory of Professor Michael M. Sheehan, csb, who taught for many years in the historical department of the Facu lty of Theology. Applicants with an interest in church history, medieval theology, history of Christian art and family studies are especially welcomed, but the award is open to any MA or ThM program of the Faculty of Theology, University of St. Michael's College.
The Lau Award (OSOTF) honours the outstanding generosity of Dr. Sam & Dr. Doris Lau and their on-going support for the University of St. Michael's College Faculty of Theology.
The Francis A. Hochstein Memorial Bursary This bursary is offered annually to graduate students of the Faculty of Theology on the basis of financial need. Academic merit will also be considered. Depending on income multiple annual awards may be made.
The Basilian Scholarship in Church History This scholarship honours the contribution of the Basilian Fathers of USMC to the study of church history at the Faculty of Theology. One scholarship is to be awarded annually to an Advanced Degree student in the historical department of the Faculty of Theology who achieves an A average.
ST. MICHAEL’S FOUNDATION BURSARIES AND OTHER AID
The St. Michael's Foundation funds a number of bursaries for advanced degree students, including the following:
The Edward Hennessy Scholarship honours the extraordinary energy of this Canadian Passionist priest (1920-1981), which he expressed through creative religious thinking and action in the areas of liturgy and ecumenism. The Scholarship encourages creativity in contemporary eco-theology.
The Eleanora Hunsaker Scholarship honours the family of a long-time faculty member. It is intended to support a theological student in an Advanced Degree program.
The Mr. & Mrs. Wm. H. Irwin Scholarship honours the family of a longtime faculty member. It is intended to support a theological student in an Advanced Degree program.
The Leonard Scholarship honours the memory of Veronica Leonard and Mary and Hugh Leonard. It is intended to support a woman in either a Basic or Advanced Degree program.
The Roberta C. Rudin Fund for Jewish-Christian Studies provides annual scholarship assistance for studies in Israel. Application information is available from the Director of the Israel Program, Faculty of Theology.
Library Carrel Bursaries are available to Advanced Degree students of the Faculty of Theology. The carrels were made possible by a significant donation of the Basilian Fathers of the University of St. Michael’s College and are located in the Kelly Library.
EXTERNAL FUNDING
Doctoral Fellowships awarded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. These are open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. For further information, consult the SSHRC (Ottawa) or the Director of Advanced Degree Studies at St. Michael's.
Ontario Graduate Scholarships are available for qualified students in the ThM and ThD programs of the Faculty of Theology.
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Scholarship is available for qualified students in the MA program of the Faculty of Theology.
